Greetings from Willow Way!

It was a busy August!  Lots of our riders travelled to Kentucky to compete—and all fairing very well!  Skyllar Beckel brought both Lego and Pete and Maddie Dunlap brought Whinny to Pony Finals.  If you have not been to the Horse Park during Pony Finals week, it is basically pony heaven with a touch of “over the top.”  Both Skyllar and Maddie had a lot of fun and rode very well.  Skyllar and Lego jumped their way to 16th place over fences and 33rd overall.  Maddie and Whinny had a great round and savored their success!  Well done and congratulations to you both!

Kyle Owens, Kayla Bean and Cara Linse brought Charmer, Thomas and Wells to Kentucky with Frostie and all had good rounds and nice collection of ribbons.  Congratulations to Kyle who was Champion on his newly acquired “Charmer”—thanks Colleen!

Skyllar Beckel with Lego and Pete went to the August Windfall show this past weekend where Skyllar qualified for the OHJA Medal aboard Lego.  Congratulations!  Johnni and Skyllar both has great things to say about the show itself, its hostess Erica, and the manner in which it was run.  They enjoyed the personal touches and the overall hospitality and recommended it highly.  Consequently we will have our chance to head there in September….

There is no shortage of upcoming shows!  There are many sign up sheets tacked to the board.  We have Delaware over Labor Day weekend, Windfall, and Country Heir Fayetteville all stacked in with IEA and the upcoming October Delaware, David Beisel and our own Halloween Fun Show.  Please check out the dates and sign up in advance to help us determine which shows are our priorities.

Speaking of priority…school is upon us!  Now that a lot of our freedom time-wise is coming to an end, it is very important that your lessons, hacks and turn outs are scheduled with Sarah, Frostie and Katie so that our horses’ activities don’t include standing in their stalls all day!   Please try to work something out as soon as possible and let us know.  We are happy to help because we all know how crazy this time of year can get, but we need your input.  Thanks for your help with this!

If you have not sent your blankets out to be cleaned, now is a good time to get those in shape for cooler weather.  The Laundromat in Sunbury is ok with you washing your blankets there but don’t put them in the dryer or they will likely shrink!  Katie can put you in touch with someone who will wash and repair them for a fee if you are interested.

Also, huge congratulations to Emilie Watkins who is now the proud owner of Uli.  Emilie has already taken him to Delaware where they earned great ribbons and to walk the hounds in preparation to take him on a foxhunt.  I do believe that Uli will be very happy.

Lastly, Kyle Owens, Andrew Dunn and Dominic Tarantelli have all gone off to college.  We are sad to see you all go for at least a while….  Have fun, study hard and come back and ride soon!
